The venue is designed for small groups of up to 6 participants, ensuring a highly personal and immersive experience. The setting is intentionally intimate and currently suited for women-only retreats, supporting a safe and held group atmosphere. As a facilitator, you are not left alone to manage the practical side of the retreat. I am present as your on-site host and provide flexible, grounded support throughout your stay. This allows you to focus fully on your teaching and the experience you wish to create. Hosting support includes: -preparing and maintaining the space (including heating the cabin and sauna) -cooking nourishing, high-quality meals -supporting the practical flow of the retreat when needed In addition, there is flexibility to include supportive offerings such as gentle yoga, sound baths, or intuitive sound-based sessions, depending on the nature of your retreat. Facilitator accommodation is located nearby (approx. 1 km from Suon Laulu), offering both privacy and ease of access. This is a space for facilitators who value depth over scale, seek meaningful group experiences, and wish to work in close connection with nature in a supported environment. What makes this property lovable!
What makes Suon Laulu truly special is its deep sense of intimacy, nature connection, and being genuinely held. The retreat is located in Kelontekemä, a small village in Finnish Lapland, about 45 minutes from Kittilä Airport, making it surprisingly accessible while still feeling deeply remote and untouched. I am originally from this area, and the landscape is very personal to me. The surrounding nature carries a long history of human life in close relationship with the land. This region has traditionally been a place where people lived in rhythm with nature, relying on fishing, hunting, and the seasonal cycles of the north. Today, that same quiet wilderness remains — expansive marshlands, forests, and open skies that create a natural sense of stillness and grounding. Many people feel that the land itself helps them slow down and reconnect. Suon Laulu is not a large or commercial retreat center. It is a small, carefully held space where every detail supports presence and depth. The environment invites silence naturally, making it easier to step away from everyday life and into something more essential. Facilitators especially appreciate the balance of: -deep seclusion in nature -accessible location from Kittilä Airport (45 min) -small group intimacy (max. 6 guests) -and supportive on-site hosting when needed I am present as a host to support the retreat flow in a flexible way — including warming the sauna and space, preparing nourishing meals, and helping hold the atmosphere when appropriate. Many describe the place as calming, grounding, and quietly powerful — not because it demands attention, but because it allows people to truly arrive.
What parts of the property are accessible to retreat guests?
Guests have full access to a beautiful lakeside retreat setting in Finnish Lapland, where the lake is an integral part of the experience. The property consists of two main cabins located directly by the water: Main cabin (accommodation & shared living) Sleeps up to 6 guests 4 sleeping places upstairs 2 sleeping places downstairs Open-plan kitchen and living area (tupa) for communal meals and gatherings Indoor bathroom with shower and toilet Direct views and access to the lake This is the main space where daily life, rest, and group integration take place. Second cabin (wellness & practice space) Traditional Finnish sauna Dedicated yoga / movement space A quiet, grounded environment for practices, ceremonies, or relaxation Outdoor environment The entire lakeside and surrounding nature are part of the retreat experience. Guests have free access to: the lake (swimming, grounding, seasonal use) forest surroundings outdoor rest and reflection areas You also have access to a traditional Lappish kota (Sámi-style hut) in the yard, offering a warm, atmospheric space for gathering around fire, sharing meals, or simply spending quiet time together. In winter, the lake offers the possibility for ice swimming (avanto), providing a powerful contrast to the warmth of the sauna and deepening the overall Nordic retreat experience. The setting naturally supports both group connection and individual retreat time, with nature always close by. Facilitators stay in nearby accommodation (approx. 1 km from the property), allowing for both presence during the retreat and personal space when needed. The overall layout is designed to support intimate group work, deep rest, and seamless flow between indoor comfort and powerful natural immersion.
Times of contact in case of any issues?
I am available for contact throughout your stay and can be reached easily if any questions or issues arise. Before and during the retreat, communication is flexible and depends on your needs as a facilitator. I am typically nearby (within approximately 1 km of the property), so I can respond quickly if on-site support is needed. For practical matters related to the space (such as heating the sauna, meals, or logistics), I am usually available during the day and early evening, and can adjust my presence according to the flow of your retreat. Outside of active support moments, I respect the privacy of your group and will only be present when needed or agreed upon in advance. The intention is to provide reliable, calm, and unobtrusive support, so you can fully focus on holding your retreat.
Any special instructions for the retreat guests to be aware of?
Guests are invited to arrive with an open mind and a willingness to slow down into the natural rhythm of the place. You are fully immersed in the northern natural environment, which means the experience changes with the seasons. The environment is simple, quiet, and deeply connected to nature, which supports rest and reflection. As the retreat is located in Finnish wilderness by a lake, guests are kindly asked to respect the natural surroundings and move with care outdoors, especially near the water and in forested areas. Please note that the property is intentionally off-grid in terms of modern distractions — there is no WiFi or television available. This supports a deeper sense of presence, rest, and connection to nature. The facilities are comfortable but intentionally simple, in line with the nature-based setting. Both the yoga space and sauna cabin are heated with wood stoves, creating a warm, grounding atmosphere and a direct connection to traditional Finnish ways of living. The property is designed for small, intimate groups (maximum 6 guests), so maintaining a respectful, quiet atmosphere is important throughout the stay. In winter months, guests may experience snow, ice, and cold-water exposure opportunities (such as traditional ice swimming / avanto). Participation is always optional and should be done mindfully and safely. Alcohol and loud activities are generally not aligned with the atmosphere of the space, as the focus is on presence, rest, and nature connection. Most importantly, guests are encouraged to: slow down disconnect from external stimulation listen to their own needs and allow nature to guide the pace of the retreat
Other Cancellation Policy (refer this if "Other" is chosen in Cancellation & Refund Policy section)
Cancellation & Date Changes A booking is confirmed once the deposit has been received, and the retreat dates are then reserved exclusively for the facilitator. The booking deposit is non-refundable, as it secures the dates and prevents them from being offered to other facilitators. If the facilitator needs to cancel the retreat: More than 90 days before arrival: any additional payments beyond the deposit may be refunded, or the booking may be transferred to another available date, subject to agreement. 30–90 days before arrival: 50% of the total hosting fee is retained. Less than 30 days before arrival: 100% of the total hosting fee is non-refundable, as the time period is unlikely to be rebooked on short notice. Rescheduling One date change may be possible, depending on availability, if requested more than 90 days before the retreat. Exceptional circumstances In case of serious unforeseen circumstances, we aim to handle each situation with flexibility and mutual understanding. Rescheduling is always preferred where possible. We recommend facilitators have their own event insurance to cover potential cancellations, travel disruptions, or participant-related risks.
Past Reviews (optional)
“From the very first messages I felt I was going somewhere safe. After the retreat I felt like a different person — the sense of peace I found was not temporary, but a completely new state of being.” — Johanna Kurki “The food was a complete surprise. Cooking and good food are important to me, and the meals exceeded all expectations. They became such an important and nourishing part of the experience.” — Katja “Thank you again — it was an incredible experience. I would recommend this to absolutely everyone. Weekends full of striving do not bring the same sense of freedom and peace that this retreat did.” — Katja “The most meaningful part of the experience was the holding — being met with such gentleness, while still being guided in a way that allowed deep inner shifts to happen.” — Johanna Kurki “Ajan henki – Astrological Cycles as Soul Work retreat was amazing. I received more than I even dared to hope for. The retreat shifted my life in many ways and was both empowering and deeply healing. The intimate group of six allowed for deep and trusting conversations. We explored ourselves and our relationships through astrology, supported by gentle yoga, sound healing, and the warmth of fire by the lake. The beautiful meals prepared throughout the retreat completed the experience. I would absolutely come again.” — Heidi Lehmuskumpu “The atmosphere was accepting, warm, and unhurried. After the retreat I continued the habit of putting my phone on airplane mode in the evenings — it was refreshing to disconnect from social media for a weekend.” — Maiju “The overall experience was truly beautiful: yoga and sound healing sessions, a hike to Särkitunturi, lunch in the kota, a peaceful sauna, and stargazing — everything left a deep impression.” — Maiju
